Hawaii Military Maneuvers and Family Roots
Being in the military and getting ordered to Hawaii presents some challenges. Do you buy or not buy a house? It can be a real dilemma when you are uncertain how long you will be stationed in the islands.
But here is something to keep in mind. You can spend part of your limited military income on rent and know you will never get it back, or you can buy Oahu real estate and establish some roots for your family.
As you know the frequent moves the military asks of its members can be very hard on a family. When you buy a home, it creates roots that may be temporary but they are roots nonetheless. There is no substitute for knowing the home you enter each day belongs to you and your family.
If you are in the military and have children this is even truer. You can buy a house in Hawaii close to great schools and know each house payment you make is building a financial future for your family. But you also know you are making a payment on a house you can call home.
