Elvis Has Left the Room

Elvis Has Left the Room

My great aunt gave me that Elvis picture painted on velvet 30 years ago.  It’s had a place of honor in my family room.  After all…this IS Hawaii and Elvis filmed 3 movies here.

So what’s up with this real estate agent advising me to take the picture down?  I know I’m trying to sell my house and I know the walls are full of pictures besides Elvis.  I also know those knick-knacks all over the tables are family treasures.  Why do I have to put those away too?  And who cares if the room looks small because there’s so much furniture?

In the real estate business, there’s something called staging.  When you are ready to sell your Hawaii real estate, because the military has told you it’s time to move, your house needs to look uncluttered in order to appeal to potential buyers.  It’s tough to decide on your own which family heirlooms need to go into storage temporarily, but a professional real estate agent can give you valuable advice.

In other words, Elvis has to go, at least temporarily.   Hopefully your great aunt will understand….
